We had a big delivery yesterday at the New For Baby warehouse in Portland, Oregon. Included in the shipment was our hottest seller the Original One-Piece now in 10 colors and 3 sizes. I am so excited about this because I have been wearing the cocoa, sky & celery one on Grant since he was born and I love it. For this photo shoot I was not about to change Little G 10 times, so my awesome, profesh photographer friend, Jennifer Bearden took a ton of shots in her studio of him squirming around on a black back drop. Then, I changed all the colors in photoshop to match our 10 colors. Rubio and I are getting sick of shipping stuff across the country for photo shoots too, so this worked perfectly. My mom Bonnie and I both LOVE the pose where he is wearing the Ocean colored One-Piece, second in from bottom right. Just look how sweet he looks there!
Which is your favorite? Select your favorite and your name will be placed in a random drawing to win a New For Baby Original One-Piece in the color & size of your choice!

One thing I’ve realized now after the first two weeks of having Grant in our house is… newborns are EASY! IF you get them on a good routine. Grant’s routine is fairly simple. He eats. He has a small activity like getting his diaper changed or bathing. Then, he sleeps. The best thing for good sleep in a newborn? SWADDLING! Check out Grant swaddled in the NFB Swaddle Blanket here. It’s my favorite NFB item! Available August 2008.

As Lyn prepares for the arrival of Baby Grant, we decided to focus in on the story behind one of our favorite garments (for newborns and beyond) - the legging. When we first developed the Original Legging, Lyn had not yet had Malia, and she coudn’t quite understand why I loved leggings so much, and how I wanted to tweak and perfect them for NFB. Cut to 2 years later, and they’re a staple in Malia’s wardrobe. Why so great? They’re easy to pull up and down (no snaps, buttons, etc.), they’re soft, and if made right, they fit all different types of babies and kids.

What makes our Original Legging unique? This was our first pant, and it was where we created New For Baby’s signature low-rise. Just below the healing belly button, but also covering the diaper. Slim, tapered fit to hug tiny legs that like to tuck up, and long enough to fit tall babies and cuff for petites. Lyn loves the elastic waist and how it fits all sizes. When we held up the first sample, the shape looked a bit odd. But that was key - it was shaped perfectly for newborns, and like nothing that was on the market.
We’ve sized it up so you can enjoy for the first year - perfect for all those diaper changes, and for sitting correctly on baby (no grandpa pants effect here!).

Hey! Just got back from La-La Land at midnight last night, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the great peeps that came by the NFB booth to say ‘hi!’
The only unfortunate part was being inside all day when the temp was hovering in the mid to high 90’s, and then flying home to (you guessed it!) - RAIN. But I did get to…
A. sleep in a king sized bed by myself
B. only worry about feeding myself
C. have a killer berry martini at a swanky rooftop bar (thanks, Pregnancy Magazine!)
D. eat the best pumpkin ravioli while the DJ played A-ha (Dolce on Melrose)
E. meet amazing people and bond with other baby-related biz owners!
And on Sunday night? Or course, I was just DYING to get back to my babies. Are 5 and 3 babies? Not so much, but when Alyssa pointed to a school bus today and said, “I’ll be on one of those in the Fall!” - and I made a pretend crying sound, she said, “don’t worry, silly! I’ll always be your baby.” Okay, here come the tears again. Blame it on lack of sleep…

The Classic Logo Hoodie has been in the works for quite some time now, with a few bumps along the production way…
Lyn first sketched this hoodie about a year ago. We adore our Cozy Hoodie for newborns (good grief, so soft!), but also wanted a hoodie with a bit more visual interest - an item that would add another layer to Signature New. But what would the design be?
In looking back to that first fax I sent Lyn of my logo idea (it was quite pathetic, really, since I have NO drawing abilities), I never would’ve guessed that people would love the logo. It started us thinking… we’ve got to encorporate the logo on more items! As with so many iconic brand images, the front chest seemed the perfect spot for the logo to appear on the new hoodie. But something was still missing - we needed more ‘pop.’ Lyn, having been a soccer player, had always thought the gear looked cool, with it’s sporty stripes and athletic vibe. So we took that inspiration on the sleeves. The first sample that came back from the printer was definitely off - too bold and harsh for these tiny garments. To incorporate a cool Cali vibe (a little nod to where I grew up) - we went with a distressed stripe. Voila! The New For Baby Classic Logo Hoodie.

After we designed the Classic Logo Hoodie, we needed a pant to complete the look. What better match than a low-rise, wide leg Yoga pant? So cute, so comfy, and the best part about them is the fit. Whether your baby is a chub (I want to kiss those rolly legs!) or a sweet string bean, the wide, soft elastic works great. Lyn and I have reached for these pants time and time again - sure to be a staple in any wardrobe.

We hope you love these garments as much as we’ve loved creating them!
